Shirley Koblenz, M.A., RP

Ms. Koblenz has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Shirley has over ten years of experience working with individuals coping with emotional and mental health challenges such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. In recent years Shirley has specialised in providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to youth and adult survivors of various types of trauma, particularly of motor vehicle accidents, sexual assault and abuse and of intimate partner violence.

Shirley views her clients’ knowledge of themselves as the most essential resource in the therapy she provides them. She honours the specific context and impacts of individuals’ life circumstances and unfortunate adversities on the development of their perspective and values, coping strategies, wishes and needs. Shirley invites her clients to safely explore their areas of concern and build on their existing skills and resilience towards their identified goals. She utilizes various evidence-based strategies and modalities based on each client’s unique needs. Modalities include Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
